Dinefwr Ramblers

Cwrt-y-Cadno 17 June 2018

The upper Cothi valley is a beautiful area for walking, with a great variety of scenery - moorland, mixed woodlands and meadows. Sadly, today’s unexpected wet and misty weather didn’t give the 20 of us the extensive views we’d hoped for.   But we are ramblers after all, and with our waterproofs and extra layers we can cope with a bit of Welsh summer rain!

Devil's Bridge 3 June 2018

A fine summer day welcomed us to the Hafod estate near Devil’s Bridge in Ceredigion, coinciding with the Ramblers’ Big Welsh Walk weekend.  Unfortunately, Mike O. who had planned the walk was unable to lead, but Alcwyn and Max stepped into the role, with 18 of us altogether including 3 visitors, plus a couple of dogs.

Robert supplied the historical background and pointed out many interesting features of this landscape.  Waterfalls and rocky ravines were created in the 18th century as part of a fashionable movement to make the Welsh countryside look more picturesque.
